Spaziergang Durch Hirzenbach

In April 2022 we started to walk through and from Hirzenbach with Expotranskultur. We walk every first Thursday of the month to discover different paths in Hirzenbach, and to meet and share while walking.

April

We took our first walk through Hirzenbach with Expotranskultur. We walked around looking for the boundaries of the neighborhood, getting to know its past as a garden city, its buildings belonging to communities and some of its meeting areas.

May

In may we walked looking for the colours of Hirzenbach with Expotranskultur. Each one of us had a colour and searched it in the streets, objects and landscape of Hirzenbach.

June

We walked in our Spaziergang Durch Hirzenbach with Expotranskultur looking for the spontaneous flora. We looked with our plant apps, checked in my big old book and talked about them in three languages. At the end, the common language to call them was the scientific one: Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion, Löwenzahn or Diente de León), Sonchus oleraceus (Gemüse-Gänsedistel or Cerraja) and Fragaria vesca (Wild strawberry, Wild Erdbeere or Fresa silvestre) among many others!

July

In july we walked along the Sagentobelbach. We talked about the de-piping of urban streams, about water in cities and about our aquatic memories. It was a very nice meeting between neighbors and new Zurichers in German.

September

We traced and searched the lines in Hirzenbach. When we walk, our path draws an imaginary line: we walk from one point to another, and if we were to connect these points or mark our path on the ground, we would see a line as a result. The world around us is full of lines. Looking for them makes us observe elements of the urban landscape that we don’t normally notice.

October

These are the photos from our last walk of the Spaziergang Durch Hirzenbach series from last year. We started with a silent walk, paying attention to the different sounds around us, until we reached the forest, where we chatted and welcomed autumn.
